Own de-icing in Helsinki
2007-04-10
SGS Helsinki has decided to start its own de-icing in October 2007 using three de-icing trucks! This is an important development for SGS Finland and its long-term future.
"When de-icing is included we can truly be called a full ground handling provider ", says Juha Järvinen, Managing Director of SGS Finland Ltd. "Helsinki has, on average, the highest volume in de-icing in the Nordic region, so it is a natural development for us to start the operations at this time following three years of own ramp operations."
"We will start de-icing operations with three trucks*, which is a good size operation", states Sami Baas, project leader for de-icing start-up. "Our plan is to expand again in 2008, when the large Blue1 account becomes available for tender."
As of October 2007, SGS Helsinki will handle de-icing for SAS, Air Baltic, Austrian, AtlasJet and Icelandair. Other customer airlines are planned for season starting 2008!
*The project team has selected two Safeaero 220 de-icing vehicles plus one Vestergaard My vehicle for the purpose
